Theme | Тема
#n, h#n, s#n (n>=2). Cumulatively, in all solutions (in full length variations) one and the same white/black piece/pawn makes all moves. Fairy pieces and conditions are not allowed.
Additional conditions:
- minimal quantity of moves by thematic piece/pawn is 3;
- moves of thematic pawn and a piece which promoted from her are summed up;
- moves of Black King are not considered as thematic;
- in #n or s#n, if the same move of thematic piece/pawn is repeated in the same or in another full length variation, then this move will be counted only one time;
- in h#, repeated moves of thematic piece/pawn are not allowed.
General conditions:
- minimal total quantity of pieces and pawns in the initial (diagram) position is 7;
- twins and extra-set pieces are not allowed;
- multiple solutions are allowed only for h#;
- set play, tries, moves which are not protect against threat – are not considered;
- short variations in #n and s#n are not considered;
- duals in full length variations (including duals in moves of white/black thematic pieces) are not allowed;
- if #n or s#n is “zugzwang” type problem then duals are not allowed;
- in #n or s#n, key involving capture of a piece (officer) or check is not allowed (key involving capture of a pawn is allowed;
- in h#n, solutions with repeated mates (i. e. with the same position of both White mating piece and Black King) are not allowed.
Bonuses and penalties:
- for each move of white/black thematic piece/pawn without capture – 10 points;
- for each move of white/black thematic piece/pawn with capture of a pawn – 3 penalty points;
- for each move of white/black thematic piece/pawn with capture of a piece – 5 penalty points;
- in case of flight-giving key, – an additional bonus of 3 points for each flight being provided (except h#);
- in case of flight-taking key, – penalty of 5 points for each flight being taken (except h#);
- if the theme is implemented both for white and black then the final sum of points (after counting all bonuses and penalties) will be multiplied by 1,5 ratio.
Joint problems are allowed. Each participant may submit no more than two entries in a particular section (including joint works). The winning problem will be the one with the highest score among entries in all sections.
Technically, the points will be calculated according to the following formula:
S = C * (10 * N + B – D), where
S being the number of points scored by the problem;
C being the coefficient equaling 1,5 (if the theme is implemented for both sides) or 1 (if only – for one side);
N being the total number of moves of thematic pieces/pawns without captures;
B being the total number of bonus points;
D being the total number of penalty points.
As extra, there will be mentioned the problems anyhow related to New Year: for instance, the problems in which the pieces of diagram position form a pattern representing a fir-tree (as in TT-100). A separate award among the young composers (18 years and younger) is planned.

Дополнительные условия темы:

- в h#n запрещены повторы ходов тематической фигуры/пешки.
Общие условия:
- минимальное количество фигур в диаграммной позиции – 7;
- запрещены близнецы и сверхкомплект;
- множественные решения разрешены только в h#n;
- не учитываются иллюзорная игра, ложная игра и ходы, не защищающие от угрозы;
- не учитываются варианты неполной длины в #n или s#n;
- в вариантах полной длины не допускается ни одной дуали, в том числе в ходах как белых, так и черных тематических фигур (за исключением дуалей при превращении на матующем ходу);
- не допускается ни одной дуали в #n или s#n, если задача относится к типу «на цугцванг»;
- в #n и s#n первым ходом запрещен шах и взятие черной фигуры (взятие черной пешки разрешено);
- в h#n запрещены решения с повторяющимися матами (т. е. с одинаковым положением белой матующей фигуры и черного короля).
Бонусы и штрафы:
- за каждый ход без взятия, совершаемый тематической фигурой/пешкой – 10 баллов;
- за каждый ход со взятием пешки, совершаемый тематической фигурой/пешкой – штраф 3 балла;
- за каждый ход со взятием фигуры, совершаемый тематической фигурой/пешкой – штраф 5 баллов;
- за вступительный ход с отдачей поля черному королю – бонус 3 балла за каждое отданное поле (кроме h#n);
- за вступительный ход с отнятием поля у черного короля – штраф 5 баллов за каждое отнятое поле (кроме h#n);
- если тема реализована и за белых, и за черных, то окончательная сумма баллов (после учета всех бонусов и штрафов) увеличивается в 1,5 раза.
Совместные композиции разрешены. Каждый автор в каждый раздел может прислать не более двух композиций, включая совместные. В конкурсе побеждает задача, набравшая наибольшее количество баллов среди задач всех разделов. Технический подсчет баллов осуществляется по формуле:
S = C * (10 * N + B – D), где
S – оценка задачи в баллах;
C – коэффициент, равный 1,5 (если тема реализована за обе стороны) или 1 (если только за одну);
N – количество ходов тематических фигур/пешек без взятий;
B – сумма бонусов;
D – сумма штрафов.
Особо будут отмечены скахографические задачи, так или иначе связанные с Новым Годом: например, задачи, где начальное положение фигур напоминает елочку (как в TT-100). Отдельно планируется подвести итоги в категории юных композиторов (не старше 18 лет).

57 entries were received for the tourney: #2-N – 14, h#2-N – 29, s#2-N – 14. Among the participants there is only young Serbian composer Ilija Serafimović (12 years) which sent the only problem.
We congratulate all chess composers on New Year and on International Day of Chess Composition!
There are following changes compared to the provisional award:
- No 24 (h#4) was excluded by view of illegal position;
- No 28 (h#10) and No 49 (h#8.5) were excluded by view of strong anticipations – pdb/P1224367 and pdb/P0505701;
- No 54 (h#7) was excluded by view of it is non-thematic (6 pieces instead 7 or more);
- points of some problems were corrected;
- versions of some problems were added.
На конкурс поступило 57 задач: #2-N – 14, h#2-N – 29, s#2-N – 14. В категории композиторов до 18 лет была прислана всего одна задача – от юного 12-летнего сербского композитора Ilija Serafimović.
Поздравляем всех композиторов с наступающим Новым Годом и с Международным днем шахматной композиции!
По результатам замечаний на предварительные итоги, внесены следующие изменения:
- исключена No 24 (h#4) из-за нелегальности позиции;
- исключены No 28 (h#10) и No 49 (h#8.5) из-за сильных предшественников – pdb/P1224367 и pdb/P0505701;
- исключена No 54 (h#7) из-за нетематичности (6 фигур вместо минимума 7 по условиям конкурса);
- скорректированы баллы нескольких задач;
- добавлены версии нескольких задач.
