21 entries were received from 14 authors representing 8 countries | На конкурс поступила 21 композиция от 14 авторов из 8 странEN <-> RU From the director Alexey Oganesjan I've received 21 selfmates on anonymous diagrams. The compositions were in 3 moves (18x), 4 moves (1x) and 5 moves (2x). Award is the following | Отличия распределились следующим образом
1st Prize, 1st Place - No 11, Zoltan Labai (Slovakia) 1...Sxd5 2.Qd2+ Kxc4 3.Se3+ Sxe3#1...Qc6 2.Rc3+ Qxc3 3.Bxe2+ fxe2# 1.Rf4! – 2.Bc1 – 3.Bxe2+ fxe2# 1...Bxd5 2.Qb1+ Kc3 3.Qb3+ Bxb3# 1...Sxd5 2.Qe4+ Kc3 3.Qe3+ Sxe3# 1...Qxd5 2.Sxf2+ Ke3+ 3.Qd2+ Qxd2# 1...Rxd5 2.Rd4+ Rxd4 3.Qc3+ Kxc3#
That’s the best work of the tourney. After a quiet thread we see four thematic variants with interesting play and four sacrifices of the wQ in the 3rd move. I assume that is a composition of a (grand)master.

2nd Prize, 2nd Place - No 13, Dieter Müller & Michael Schreckenbach (Germany) 1...Sc1 2.Bf4+ Kd4 3.Qf2+ Bxf2#1.Ba8? – 2.Qf4+ Kxd3 3.Qd4+ Bxd4# 1...Bxd3 2.Bf4+ Kd4 3.Qf2+ Bxf2# 1...cxd3 2.Qe4+ Kf2 3.Qe2+ dxe2# 1...Rxd3 2.Qe4+ Kf2 3.Qe1+ dxe1~# 1...c5! 1.Bc6! – 2.Qf4+ Kxd3 3.Qd4+ Bxd4# 1...Bxd3 2.Bf4+ Kd4 3.Qf2+ Bxf2# 1...cxd3 2.Qe4+ Kf2 3.Qe2+ dxe2# 1...Rxd3 2.Qe4+ Kf2 3.Qe1+ dxe1~#
There are 3 black blocks on the field d3 against the thread. Additional we have the tries 1.Ba8?, 1.Bb7? and a change of continuation between set and try/ solution.
EN <-> RU
Unfortunately we see 2.Qe4+ two times. 3rd Prize, 3rd Place - No 6, Gábor Tar (Hungary) 1.d7! – 2.Sd6+ Ke5+ 3.Qf4+ Rxf4#1...Sxc4 2.Bd5+ Kxd5 3.Qf5+ Se5# 1...Rxc4 2.d3+ Ke5+ 3.Qf4+ Rxf4# 1...Bxc4 2.Sf6+ Ke5 3.Bg8+ Be6#
This work is a little bit similar to the 1st prize. A masked battery is changed to a half battery. But the variants doesn’t meet the impressive flexible play if the 1st prize.

Rxe7! 2.Sxh4+ Bxh4 3.Qf6+ Bxf6+ 4.Bxh1 1.Bc7? – 2.Rc5+ bxc5 3.Qg6+ hxg6#, 1...Rxc7! 1.exf4? – 2.Rc5+ bxc5 3.Qg6+ hxg6#, 1...Sxf4+! 1.exd4! – 2.Rc5+ bxc5 3.Qg6+ hxg6# 1...Sxd4 2.Qd5+ Qe5 3.Bg4+ Bxg4# 1...Bxd4 2.Se7+ Rxe7 3.Sxh4+ Qxh4#/Rxh4#

There are line opening effects with an additional try 1.Rd1? in a good economy.
EN <-> RU
Commendation - No 14 (version), Dieter Müller (Germany) 1.Qe4! – 2.Bh7+ Kxf7 3.Qd5+ Qxd5#1...Sf3 2.Sf8+ Kxf6 3.Qe5+ Sxe5# 1...Rf3 2.R5xh6+ Kg5 3.Qf4+ Rxf4#
