Final Award in Quick Composing TT-117 | Окончательные итоги блицконкурса TT-117Theme | Тема [ Announcement | Объявление ]
19 entries were received from 12 authors representing 8 countries | На конкурс поступило 19 композиций от 12 авторов из 8 странEN <-> RU The idea of my theme proposition for this tournament was to search for a broader interpretation of the well known threat correction theme and to explore possibilities for its integration with other modern themes such as threat paradox. In first place, my aim was to find alternatives to usual random move + correction sequences. I am very satisfied with the response of the composers which have largely grasped my intention. Award is the following | Отличия распределились следующим образом
1st Prize, 1st Place - No 15, Valery Shanshin (Russia) 1...c5 (a) 2.Sb6# (A)1.b4? – 2.Sb6# (A), 1...exd2! (b); 1.Se6? – 2.Sb6# (A) (2.Sc3?), 1...exd2 (b) 2.Sc3# (B), 1...Rxe8 2.Sc7#, 1...c5! (a) 1.d4! – 2.Sc3# (B) (2.Sb6?), 1...exd2 (b) 2.Sb6# (A), 1...Rc1 2.Qg2#, 1...Ke4 2.Sc3#
This beautiful problem is the clear winner. The required theme is supplemented by the Le Grand theme and other effects in a nice open setting.

2nd Prize, 2nd Place - No 7, Valery Shanshin (Russia) 1.Sxe3? – 2.Se8# (A), 1...Rg8 2.Sc4#, 1...e5 2.Sf5#, 1...Rc2! (a)1.Sc3! – 2.Se4# (2.Se8?), 1...Rc2 (a) 2.Se8# (A) (2.Se4? Kc6! – Levman), 1...Kc6 2.S3b5# (2.Se4? Rc2! – King`s Schiffmann)
Amazing problem with nice line play and good economy. Levman and Schiffmann defences are very natural additions. A slight defect is the remote thematic knight.

Special Prize, 3rd Place - No 18, Pavel Murashev (Russia) 1...Rb~ 2.Bxd6#, 1...Rxc4!1.Qd2? – 2.Qxd6#, 1...Rd1 (b) 2.Rxf5#, 1...Sd5 (c)/Sb5 2.Qd5#, 1...d5 2.Sd7# (A), 1...e3! 1.Rf6? 2.Sd7# (A), 1...Kxf6 2.Qd4# (B), 1...gxf6 2.Sxf7# (C), 1...Sxb6/Sc5 2.Qxc3#, 1...Rxc4! (a) 1.Rxd6! – 2.Qd4# (B) (A?), 1...Rxc4 (a) 2.Sd7# (A), 1...Kxd6 2.Sf7# (C), 1...Rd1 (b) 2.Qf4#, 1...Sd5 (c)/Sb5/Se2 2.Rd5#
Ambitious problem featuring rich play but with somewhat heavy setting and unused material. Pleasant variation of flight squares.

1st Honorable mention - No 17, Rodolfo Riva (Italy) 1.Qc4? – 2.Sxf7#, 1...Rd5!; 1.Qd3? – 2.Bd6#, 1...Bd5!1.Rfxf6! – 2.f4#, 1...Rd5 2.Sxf7, 1...Bd5 2.Bd6#, 1...Rd3+ 2.Sxd3#, 1...f1Q 2.Qh2#, 1...Rf5 2.Rxf5#
An interesting idea allowing theme doubling. A pity is that key moves have double motivation (guard + line closure).
EN <-> RU
2nd Honorable mention - No 12, Zoltan Labai (Slovakia) 1...Be5 2.Sge7# (A)1.Sge7+? (A) Ke5!; 1.d4? – 2.Sge7# (A), 1...Rxe3 (a) 2.Qc4#, 1...exd3 e. p. 2.Qf3#, 1...Re8! (b); 1.Sc4? – 2.Sge7# (A), 1...Re8 (b) 2.Sb6#, 1...Rxe3! (a) 1.Sc6! – 2.Sce7#, 1...Rxe3 (a) 2.Sge7# (A), 1...Re8 (b) 2.Sb4#, 1...Kc4 2.Sb4#
Pleasant play with changed and transferred mates in an open position.
EN <-> RU

Problem showing varied play including change and transfer of mates but not very elegant.
