Родился 7 июля 1936 года. Геолог-ученый, доктор геолого-минералогических наук, Почетный разведчик недр Украины, автор многих геологических открытий, свыше 150 опубликованных работ, в т.ч. 5 монографий.

Первые двухходовки опубликовал в 1952 году, среди них одну из первых задач на киевскую тему в форме мередита, а также с предложенной темой, которая получила название темы Великого. За пятилетний период 1952-1957 гг он успел получить в различных конкурсах 27 отличий, в т.ч. 18 призов, из них 7 первых.

После 1957 г. в его творчестве наступил 40-летний перерыв: производственная и научная деятельность не оставляли времени для композиции. В композицию вернулся в 1996 году. С 1999 г. он – президент общественной Ассоциации шахматных композиторов Украины (АШКУ). Им организовано и проведено 12 международных конкурсов составления, встречи композиторов Украины и Словакии (1998 и 1999 гг) и т.д., опубликован целый ряд статей по композиционному искусству.

Николай Великий опубликовал свыше 170 композиций (преимущественно двухходовок, немного других жанров), всего им получено 96 отличий, из них 78 призов, в т.ч. 51 первых.

Was born on July, 7th, 1936. The Geologist-scientist, the doctor geologo - mineralogical sciences, the Honourable scout of bowels of Ukraine, the author of many Geological opening, over 150 published works, including 5 monographies.

The first twomovers has published in 1952, among them one of the first Problems on the Kiev theme in shape мередита, and also with the offered theme which has received the name of a theme Great. 1952-1957 гг he has had time to receive for the five years' period in various competitions of 27 differences, including 18 prizes, from them 7 of the first.

After 1957 in its creativity there has come a 40-year-old break: industrial and scientific activity did not leave time for a composition. To a composition has returned in 1996. Since 1999 he is a president of public Association of chess composers of Ukraine. It organises and spends 12 international competitions of drawing up, meetings of composers of Ukraine and Slovakia (1998 and 1999 гг) etc., variety of articles on composite art is published.
