Окончил Ленинградский Механический институт (военмех), по службе занимался вопросами национальной безопасности.
С 1972 года опубликовал более 500 композиций: в основном этюды и логические многоходовки.
Большинство произведений отмечены различными отличиями, около 130 из них – призы, в том числе более 40 – первые.
Одинаково успешно составлял и задачи, и этюды, являлся одним из ведущих композиторов города на Неве. Неоднократно становился победителем и призёром конкурсов самого высокого уровня.
Десятикратный чемпион Ленинграда – Санкт-Петербурга, мастер спорта СССР. Более 50 композиций отобраны в Альбомы России и более 20 – в Альбомы ФИДЕ.
В 2012 году получил звание международного мастера.
